Get To Know Ms. Thomas!

By Milly Saber

It’s time for another (and very long-awaited) teacher interview! This time, I’m interviewing Mrs. Thomas, the newest English teacher to start working here at our school. Read on to find out about Mrs. Thomas’ cat’s crazy antics, or which celebrities she would invite to a dinner party!

  1. Introduce yourself to me briefly.

“I’m Mrs. Thomas, I’m teaching English here at St. Augustine’s. Teaching is my second career after working at the BBC for many years.”

  1. What’s your earliest memory?

“Probably going out to see the horses with my aunt – she was a riding teacher”.

  1. What song gets you on the dance floor?

“I’d have to get on the dance floor for “‘I’ve Gotta Feeling’ by the Black Eyed Peas”.

  1. Which fictional character do you identify most with and why?

“Miss Marple. I’m not an octogenarian but I do want to channel that unassuming exterior that hides a steely core”.

  1. Describe yourself in 3 words.

“Curious, animal-lover. That’s two ideas, but three words, does that count?”

  1. Which actor would you want to play you in a film about your life?

“I’m going to be aspirational and say Rosamund Pike”.

  1. Which three famous people would you invite to a dinner party and why?

“The writer A.S. Byatt. She was such an interesting and intellectual person. Paul McCartney because I’d like to hear some lesser-known anecdotes about The Beatles, and David Tennant because he’s my favourite Doctor”.

  1. What’s your most treasured possession?

“I suppose that’s got to be an inanimate object doesn’t it? So, my most treasured people are my son, my husband and then the cat. But if I’m talking about inanimate objects, probably my engagement ring”.

  1. What makes you laugh most?

“At the moment, it would have to be my cat. He goes completely mad for no reason; this wildness just comes upon him, and then he runs up and down the stairs at lightning speed, and makes very peculiar noises. And it just always makes us laugh, we always say ‘Oh my gosh, Tiger’s gone mad!’”

  1. What keeps you up at night?

“I worry about the state of the world”.
