By Anne Boyle and Alanis Clark
As part of the new Lower School Veritas Times drive, lead editor Esinam Asima has run weekly sessions with Years 5 and 6 to develop their journalistic skill. Alanis and Anne wrote a joint article about their year 5 puppet play ‘Bunny the Bully ‘, which was written and directed by Miss Cebotari.
What is the play about?
Year 5 have recently been rehearsing a play with our teacher, Miss Cebotari, called ‘Bunny the Bully’ which will be performed to parents on Tuesday 7th July.
It is an interactive play about friendship, kindness and forgiveness. We will be manipulating puppets and the audience become part of the story by helping the characters through songs, games and questions. It is something that we have been working on for a few weeks now – we are progressing well and are hopeful and excited about our final performance.
What is the main message?
The main character is Bunny, a grumpy little rabbit who does not like sharing, playing or making friends. He is rude to the other animals and thinks he does not need anyone. But when Bunny gets into trouble, he discovers how sad and scary it can be to feel alone.
With the help of the children, Squirrel, Ted the Bear and the actors, Bunny learns good manners, kindness and the true meaning of friendship.
Step into the magical Meadow Forest, where everyone deserves a second chance. With help from a squirrel, a bunny and a wolf, and you will learn how to respond to bullying in a fun and engaging way.
